General Information

The Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) aims to gather players in the global documentary film industry for a celebration of documentary filmmaking, promoting valuable cross-cultural partnerships, and sharing inspirational stories on relevant global issues.

Subject Matter 

CIDFF welcomes documentary films covering a broad scope of topics. 

CIDFF is open to professional, debut, and student filmmakers of all ages and nationalities.

By submitting a film to CIDFF, the filmmaker or authorized representative confirms that he or she has authorization from each person appearing in the film or otherwise has the right to film them; all content is his or her own work, and the filmmaker or authorized representative has the right to use all content. The filmmaker or authorized representative guarantee that he or she have obtained all the necessary permissions, licenses and clearances and that the film and the screening of the film, does not infringe the moral and ethical rights including copyright of any third party.

The filmmaker or authorized representative hereby warrant that he or she is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and agrees to these requirements and regulations. The filmmaker or authorized representative shall indemnify and hold harmless the Cebu International Documentary Film Festival and its Organizers from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees, and costs of court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim including copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening of the submitted film for official selection. 

The official language of the CIDFF is English. Foreign language films must have English subtitles or captions. Transcripts will not be accepted. 

Film Categories
CIDFF accepts films under two categories: Long and Short documentaries. Films may not be submitted into more than one category.

*Long Documentary. Films more than fifty five (55) minutes in duration. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.
*Short Documentary. Films less than fifty five (55) minutes in duration. Open to professional and amateur filmmakers.
*Special Category (optional). Films up tp ten (10) minutes in duration. Open to students and amateur filmmakers.

Film Submission
Each filmmaker may submit up to six (6) entries per category. Films previously screened and/or awarded elsewhere may be submitted. All submitted films must be final cuts and free of any advertisements. 

All Entries must contain English subtitles. Entries submitted without subtitles, or with supplementary printed translations/transcripts, will be automatically disqualified.

Once selected, the film cannot be withdrawn during the event and give permission for the Cebu International Documentary Film Festival (CIDFF) to screen selected films during the festival and any other CIDFF presentations, programs, and/or events.

Films previously screened and/or awarded elsewhere may be submitted.

Selection of film for Competition Section will be made by a committee whose decision will be final.

Deadlines and Fees
CIDFF is a non-profit organization that is dependent on public and private funding.

Donations have no bearing upon competition results. Submission of entries starts February 15, 2015 at 10:00 AM Philippine Standard Time (GMT +8). Deadline of submissions is on May 30, 2015 at 11:59 PM Philippine Standard Time (GMT +8).

4-6 Entries: US$10 (PhP500) each
Short Documentary US $20 (PhP 1,000)
2-3 Entries: US$20 (PhP1,000) each
4-6 Entries: US$15 (PhP800) each
 Special Category  US $20 (PhP 1,000)  

How to Enter

To submit a film to CIDFF, filmmakers must register on the CIDFF website and fill out the application form

- Two (2) DVD copies (NTSC recommended) - with English subtitles

- One (1) Blu-ray copy (if available) or High Definition QuickTime

- Digital Cinema Package (if available, when selected)

- Original File (for uploading and promotional purposes)

- Film poster art

- Logline and Synopsis of the film, along with cast & crew details
